Inngot support for KTN webinar series in partnership with Product Design Scotland

Inngot was delighted to support and deliver a session on intellectual property in May 2020 for this weekly series of webinars entitled ‘Navigating the design to manufacture journey’. Dr Alison Orr spoke on the topic of ‘Unlocking IP value’ providing insight on how intangible assets, just like tangible assets, can be used and how (if managed well) can add significantly to the value of a business. A brief introduction to Inngot’s free and affordable IP profiling, management and valuation tools, which can be used to help companies maximise the value of their innovations, was also provided.

This session on intellectual property involved speakers from the Intellectual Property Office, discussing ‘Strategy & Tactics for considering IP’ and Scintilla on ‘A flythrough review of IP rights’ and was delivered as part of a curated series of lunchtime webinars by the KTN manufacturing team in partnership with Product Design Scotland involving representatives across the design to manufacture space. Details of future events may be found here. Webinar recordings are also available from the event organiser.

This webinar series is intended to inform early stage product development and help those with the challenge of turning an idea into a scalable, commercial product – a challenge often faced by many entrepreneurs, innovators and SMEs. Developing a new product, new functionality or new customer experience can be difficult, and the design to manufacture process must be given careful consideration to ensure that development costs and timelines are managed effectively.

Navigating this process can be daunting and good communication between stakeholders is vital. By understanding what designers and manufacturers care about, it will be easier to establish the good relationships and processes that will avoid costly, time consuming changes further along the development process.

Inngot tools can help with this process in terms of identifying registered IP rights in your portfolio – in fact our Goldseam tool sets out 5 families and over 60 types of wider intangible assets that are equally as important to the better known ‘traditional’ IP rights. Our Sollomon valuation tools have also been shown to help unlock IP value, often missing from your balance sheet (such as for Raising funding ; Merger & acquisition activity ; Negotiating licensing agreements or franchising arrangements; Structuring collaborations, partnerships & joint ventures; Buying & selling IP assets; Portfolio assessment; or Strategic business insights
